If your students want to learn the Quran, MSA is the way to go. If they want to learn Arabic to communicate and understand different cultures, an integrated approach would probably be better. As a non-native speaker of Arabic (and not Muslim), I don't want to speak in fusha to my taxi driver, neighbors, or colleagues (even at the Uni!). I do want to read and watch the news, though. So an integrated approach works for my needs. I fully respect the MSA only method. No worries mate!

Re: TAFL Training > BA/MA/PhD Arabic Language Teaching, Turkey

Hi every body,
I am Imad a Master student in Applied Linguistics from Morocco.
I am preparing my MA thesis in : Teaching Arabic to foreigners( Americans as a case study) just i wanna ask you please if you can provide me with any data related to my thesis
this's my email: imad.phd@hotmail.com
Thanks a lot .

Re: Event > Arabic GCSE Projector Study Session

Shukran

Re: TAFL Publications > Problem of Diglossia Which Confronts Students of Arabic in the United States

Salaam,
I'm an Egyptian TAFL based in the UK but I very rarely teach colloquial to beginners. Although I understand most dialects (apart from the Maghreb's! ) I would only feel comfortable teaching my own for starters. Secondly, a large section of my students are learning Arabic as a vehicle to understanding the Quran/Islamic texts. Personally, I feel that Modern Standard Arabic is the best foundation for beginners which is then easily modifiable to either a dialect or Quranic Arabic.
Starting with MSA + Dialect at a stage when they are still struggling to master the alphabet and basic grammar may be challenging for many. There's also a strong argument for preserving fus7a when it is under threat in many parts of the Arab world where English or French are being prefered for academic study and many young Arabs now have very poor mastery of fus7a.
Just my opinion!
R

Re: Conference > Language Futures: Languages in Higher Education, July 2012, Edinburgh

ربما من الصعب التسجيل في اي من هذه الورش في الوقت الحالي لي البعض توقيت التسجيل انتهى والاخر صعوبة وتكلفة السفر ال هذه الدول اوروبا وامريكا اتمنى اعلامي بأي دورات مسبقة في الامارات او دول الخليج او الدول العربية وبعدها ننطلق الى الدول الاخرى مع الشكر والامتنان دوما
سلام الطاهر

Re: Romanization Tool > Arabic to Latin Converter

Dear Mourad,

>
> Alsslam alukim,
>
> Thank you for the
great information provided in the website about
> Romanization tables. I
was wondering if you could advise me about the
> most accurate tool from
the following:
>
> http://mylanguages.org/arab...
>
>
>
http://robsmart.co.uk/2007/...
>
>
I also came across http://stevemorse.org/arabi... but it does
>
not seem to be accurate. Although I am an Arabic speaker, I found it
>
difficult and time consuming to use Romanization Tables like IJMES
>
Transliteration Chart in transliterating books or paper titles, as I
learned
> most of my English from listing. However, if there is no good
tool, what
> Romanization table you would recommend to use it in my PhD?
I will be
> also interested to know your opinion in the suggestion
provided at this link
> http://www.quran4theworld.c...
>
>
Your help is highly appreciated.
>
> Best regards,
>
>
Ahmad,

Re: Arabic Etymology/Morphological Tools > Quran Corpus

they updated this website, tiny bit different on the dictionary page

Re: Translation/Research Tool > Etymological Dictionary of Arabic Language and Culture

Subhanallah!

"
Permission error

Contact the owner of the wiki to get further privileges.
